10 years ago today Zenit won the Super Cup for the first time

On 9 March 2008 the blue-white-sky blues defeated Lokomotiv Moscow to lift the Russian Super Cup for the first time. 
The game took place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow between Zenit the current champions and Lokomotiv holders of the Russian Cup. 48,000 fans were in attendance and set a new record for a Super Cup match. 

Andrei Arshavin scored the opening goal on 34 minutes and Zenit went into half-time 1-0 up. Rodolfo equalised for the Railwaymen on 69 minutes before Pavel Pogrebnyak scored the winner on 82 minutes. 

This success set the tone for the season and Zenit went on to lift the UEFA Cup that season.
