August 29, 2008 at Stade Louis II in Monaco, Zenit, the winners of the UEFA Cup, faced the winners of the UEFA Champions League, Manchester United. Zenit took the lead on 44th minutes through Pavel Pogrebnyak. On 59 minutes, we then doubled our lead when as Danny, making his debut scored a spectacular solo goal to beat Van der Sar and make it 2-0. United pulled on back through Vidic on 73 minutes and the game ended 2-1. 

Having beaten Manchester United, the blue-white-sky blues became the first and only Russian club to win the trophy.
