Matias Kranevitter on the Copa Libertadores final: "We will definitely be watching it together"

The former River Plate man on the biggest game in South American club football coming up in Madrid.
The Copa Libertadores final between Argentina's River Plate and Boca Juniors is coming up and at Zenit we have one Boca fan (Leandro Paredes) and three River Plate supporters, including yourself. Have you all been discussing the game and the events surrounding it?

Sure we have, because we are all friends, even though we support different teams. First of all, we are all ashamed of what happened before the second leg (the game had to be called off due to River fans attacking the Boca team bus. - Ed.) The final of such a tournament taking place in Argentina between Argentina's top two clubs should have been a historic event, but now the game will be in  Madrid. It is a real shame it happened. We are a football country, everyone was really excited for this game and it would have been remembered forever, but what happened happened. The match in the Bernabeu won't be the same, because there won't be the large numbers of passionate fans backing either side.

Did you watch the first match that ended 2-2?

On that day, we were playing CSKA Moscow and the games were back to back, so I only got to glance at the first Boca - River game.

The match in Madrid is scheduled for the evening just after our game with Rubin. Are you all going to watch it together?

It's a must! We haven't yet discussed where, but we will definitely be watching it together.

The full version of the interview with Matias Kranevitter will appear in the ProZenit matchday programme on Sunday.
