35 years ago today we won our first-ever league title

On 21 November 1984 Zenit defeated Metallist Kharkov to secure the club's first-ever league title.

Zenit Leningrad won the match 4-1 with the goals coming from Nikolai Larionov, Yuri Zheludkov and Sergey Dmitriev (who scored two) to mean Pavel Sadyrin's team lifted the USSR league title.

During the 1984 season, the blue-white-sky blues won 19 of their 34 matches league matches, drawing nine and losing six. Meaning Zenit finished on 47 points (2 points for a win) and finishing just 2 points ahead of Spartak Moscow.
