Zenit legends defeat the St. Petersburg local government team in a friendly
The Zenit championship winning team of 1984 reunited for a legends match at the Smena Stadium on Thursday night.
They took on the football team of the St. Petersburg local government and won the game of two 30 minute halves 5-4, thanks to goals from Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Dmitry Barannik and Sergei Dmitriev.
Alexander Medvedev, our General director said to the crowd: "Let's welcome our heroes once again! We are playing this match at the Smena Stadium, which is very symbolic, because ten of the players from that championship team were students of the Smena football school and this shows what our academy is aiming for. I hope we'll see some beautiful football today."
The Smena Stadium at the Gazprom Academy hosts the home matches of Zenit-2 and Zenit U19s and entrance is free at those games.
