Today would have been the 86th birthday of Yuri Morozov

The former Zenit player and head coach passed away in 2005, but we still remember his birthday and the contribution he made to the blue-white-sky blues.
Today would have been the 86th birthday of Yuri Morozov
Morozov began his playing career at Zenit as a midfielder and received call-ups to the USSR's B-team in the 1950s, all before ended his playing days prematurely and going into coaching at the age of 31.

He began his coaching career at our Smena youth academy and was then selected to work in the national team set-up and went to the Olympics with the USSR. He went on to manage Zenti between 1977 and 1982, leading the team to their highest ever finish of third in 1980 and is created with putting together the side that won the 1984 championship.

This was followed by more spells at international level, again with the USSR, but also in the Middle-East with Kuwait, Iraq and UAE club side Sharjah FC. He returned to manage Zenit in 1991, took an upstairs role in 1995 and once again managed the blue-white-sky blues between 2002-2002.

Yuri Morozov passed away in February 2005 and goes down in our club's history as "The Father of all our victories."
