13 years on since that first Russian title win

We take a look back to 11 November 2007and our first league title since the Soviet-era.
13 years on since that first Russian title win
We went into the final matchday of the 2007 Russian Premier League season with a two-point lead over our title rivals Spartak Moscow, however the blue-white-sky blues faced a tricky away tie in Ramenskoye near Moscow with high flying Saturn, who would finish the season in fifth. A defeat for us and a win for Spartak in their final home tie against local rivals Dynamo would mean the RPL title went to Moscow, and not St. Petersburg for the first time since 1984.

The highlights of the match the tell the story of how Dick Advocaat's team managed to secure that historic first RPL title are below. Watch that a deflected early goal from Radek Sirl, a magnificent display in goal from Vychaslav Malafeev and of course that famous last-minute header of the line from Alejandro Domínguez to relive that Zenit title win of 2007.

Our starting XI that day: Vyacheslav Malafeev, Nicolas Lombaerts, Martin Skrtel, Dong-jin Kim, Radek Sirl, Aleksandr Anyukov, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Konstantin Zyryanov, Alejandro Domínguez, Andrey Arshavin, Fatih Tekke (Pavel Pogrebnyak).
