Robert Renan Alves Barbosa was born on 11 October 2003 in the Brazilian capital of  Brasilia and is a graduate of the Corinthians academy. He made his debut for that club in April 2022 and appeared 13 times for the Sao Paulo outfit, 11 of which were in the starting lineup. 

He has appeared for Brazil at various youth levels and was part of the Brazilian U20 team that won the 2023 South American U20 Championship in February of last year. In March 2023 he received his first call-up to the main Brazilian national team.

Robert Renan joined Zenit in February 2023 and has played 17 matches for the St. Petersburg side. He was part of the league winning team of the 2022/23 season and also scored the decisive penalty kick in the shootout to win the 2023 Russian Super Cup.
