Pedro: "I want to be important and vital to the team"

Our first interview with Pedro at this winter's Gazprom Training Camp.
Pedro: "I want to be important and vital to the team"

We’ve been waiting for you at Zenit for a long time, but only now we can say: “Welcome to Zenit!” How are you feeling now?

I am very happy, yes the move seemed very far away and I wanted to join the team as soon as possible, to get used to the football and my new teammates. I'm sure we’ll have a great year ahead of us and everyone has really welcomed me. I’ve been waiting for this moment and finally I am here!

You arrived in St. Petersburg a few days before the Gazprom Training Camp. Why did you decide to do just that and not just fly from Brazil straight to Abu Dhabi?

I had to have my medical examination and finalise a few formalities. I have been looking forward to this pre-season training in the UAE and now it's time to show what I can do on the pitch.

It’s been quite cold in St. Petersburg recently, what are your first impressions of our Russian weather?

The Brazilians at Zenit told me how cold it can get there and I saw their photos. When I was leaving the airport, my agent said: “Be careful, it’s very cold outside, wear a warm jacket” and it was -15 outside, so cold! But I'll definitely get used to it, it's just a matter of time.

Which Zenit players do you know personally?

I know Claudinho, Du Queiroz, Mantuan and Arthur. I met the rest today!

What did they tell you about the club, the city and the country?

That it’s an amazing club and I shouldn’t hesitate to come as soon as possible. They said it would be a very good experience for me and that St. Petersburg is an incredible city that cannot be described in words.

What are your aims for being at the club?

I want to have a good season and get some goals and assists for Zenit. I want to be important and vital to the team.

We know that you are an attacking player, but do you have a favorite position on the pitch?

I would say left wing and false nine.

And finally, do you have a few words for our fans?

Hello, Zenit fans! This is Pedro, I would like to thank you and the whole team for the warm welcome. You’ll see my full effort to help the club. I promise!
