The Zenit manager spoke to us about the 1-1 draw with Al-Fateh,the first Gazprom Training Camp and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk’s new job.

Sergei Semak: “We will start the second training camp at full strength”

We’ve just seen the first draw of this winter training camp. Why couldn't Zenit win today?

Because we couldn’t score another, and we conceded due to a mistake. As for our finishing and creating chances, there weren’t many in the first half, only at the end of the second half did the good chances begin to come about. Bardachev did well from a set piece, and there were other chances too. Unfortunately, we didn't score. We looked tired, which is expected and our finishing still isn’t there yet.

Nino played the entire match in defence, how do you rate his performance?

He played well looked quite confident. He’s very good with the ball and we saw that today. He has a very good and high-quality pass on him and now he needs to get used to the team and what we want in certain situations. I think he still has work to do, but overall ihe had a good game.

Are you pleased with the results from this first Gazprom Training Camp? Three wins and a draw.

It’s been a good, high-quality camp. No one got injured or missed training sessions. The matches gave us a lot to look at and the most important thing is that everyone is fit. We will start the second training camp at full strength and there everyone will play in that interesting tournament.

What are the team’s immediate plans for the next few days?

We have three days off, and then a flight to Doha to continue training there.

We saw an unusual set of officials at the start of the game, what was that about?

There had been some misunderstanding with the referees about kick off time and they couldn’t arrive on time. I spoke with Slaven Bilic and he agreed on us each providing the referee and linesmen, so Anatoliy Tymoshchuk and two Al-Fateh players did the duty, and I think they did an excellent job. As the professional referees arrived, they came on for the guys.
