Sergei Semak: "We got the win thanks to dedication and patience"

The Zenit boss on the win in Kazan, Yerokhin's goal and Dzyuba's fitness level.
It was a very difficult game. In the first half it did not turn out as we planned, we created little in attack and our defending wasn't great. They created a few chances at our end and I'm not happy with our defending. In the second half we played better, there were a couple of other big chances for Yerokhin, but he did not get to the ball in time. The sending off meant we had to make adjustments and defend more, but I'm very glad that we managed to score and we got the win thanks to dedication and patience. Everyone knows how difficult it is to play here. Kurban Bekievich can organize a team with a good spirit and that battles, their motivation was very high. But congratulations to our team on winning. We deserved three points, but it was very, very difficult.

Today, Dzyuba often moved to the right flank and he created the chance for the goal, is this your instructions to him?

He shifted to the right and to the left. We adjust our tactics for the players that are at our disposal and this effects the situation on the pitch.

Why weren't Poloz and Tsallagov playing for Rubin? Was that your decision?

I do not make those decisions, but I can say what I think. Zenit pays their wages and for them to play against Zenit is wrong. I told the club's management what I think, but it was their final decision.

How do you rate Yerohin's performance? Is he ready to play the whole match?

You know that for a while he hasn't played. Step by step we are trying to get him into match form, him as well as other players. We rotate, we put those out who are ready and then give the chance for other players to get out there, so that everyone gets in the right zone, both physically and mentally.

Are you thinking about the match with Dinamo Minsk?

No, we take each game as it comes. Let's analyze this match and only then we will prepare for the next one.

Did Dzyuba ask to be subbed? What were you talking about?

I asked him how he was. He wanted to delay his substitution because of how the game was going. To play the whole game is difficult for him because he does have some issues relating to fitness, but Artem gives 100% in every match and that's credit to him. I am very pleased with our central midfielders, who did a tremendous amount of work. We continue to work to support the strengths of our players. There is a lot of work to be done and we will go on.
