Andrey Mostovoy: “This year's Gazprom Training Camp has been more difficult for me”

Andrey, you missed a few days training with the team. How are you feeling now and how was the training session?

“I’m still feeling a little bit of discomfort, but I know that I have to start training now, the training days are too important to miss, so I’m trying to work even through the pain. Generally I feel much better now. As for the training session, it was the usual pre-match training, we are working a lot on tactical formations and then playing tournament. Today something went wrong for our team and we finished in third place.”

Is there a chance that you’re going to play tomorrow?

“I think I’m going to play, but I don’t know whether it will be in the morning or in the evening. Unfortunately I missed the last match and that's not good, especially when playing for 90 minutes is the most challenging workout during training camp. I haven’t talked to the coaching staff about tomorrow, but I think I am going to play.”

This training camp is coming to an end, are you more tired mentally or physically?

“Honestly, this year the training camp is more difficult for me. Usually I love training camps, but right now it’s a bit hard. Maybe it’s because we had a longer vacation, but these last 4-5 days I want to come back home so much (smiles).”

At the beginning of the training camp in Dubai you posted a picture of your leg after a challenge with Dmitriy Chistyakov. Has it healed and have you taken revenge yet?

“I don’t need to take revenge, I’m not that type of person. I understand that it’s football and moments like this one happen. Dmitriy got a bit mad and played too aggressive when the ball was between us. After the incident he came up to me and apologised, said that he was angry because the game wasn’t going great. It’s fine, I posted the picture as a joke, you can’t really get upset with stuff like this (smiles).”
