Sergei Semak: "The battle at the top of the league is quite intense"

Arsen Adamov is currently playing on loan from Zenit at Orenburg and playing regularly. What are the chances of him returning next season and playing for Zenit? Considering Mario Fernandes’ age and injury record this season.

Arsen playing a lot is a plus for both us and him. Regarding his future, we keep an eye on all our players out on loan and on players we have a buy-back option on. Now Konstantin Zyryanov is in charge of this and on staying in contact with everyone. At the end of the season we will make decisions, depending on our squad, as to who to bring back.

Douglas Santos is suspended for the match, so will you go back to the second half options you used against Krasnodar, with Artur on the left of defense? What other options do you have at full-back?

We have options, we can play with three central defenders, or we have the option of playing with four at the back, or we can change things during the match. The guys know our tactics and formations. We will decide how we will play in this game a bit later, once we know who is in what condition, and if anyone is injured and can’t play. Then we will make a decision based on the condition of the players.

What do you think about the battle at the bottom of the table and of Orenburg? Who do you think will be relegated this season?

No I don’t know. I don't think anyone knows this. There is a battle going on, it's quite intense at the top of the league. It was only last week we managed to break clear, and can afford to lose a game.

As for Orenburg, this team has been one of the best in spring, they've earned as many points as us, with only Rostov scoring more, so they are playing very well. The most important indicator is the points they've earned and the second is they are conceding very few goals. Just two goals conceded after the winter break shows they know how to defend. They have a lot of good attackers and know how to create chances. The points they've earned in the spring have allowed Orenburg to move a little away from the drop zone and the threat of direct relegation.

As for other clubs, it's tight down there, so any teams winning two or three matches will pull away, and vice versa, some teams may be dragged in. Therefore, the battle is competitive, and every game is of decisive importance.

Regarding the last match with Spartak, the camera caught you after the VAR decision and it was clear that you did not understand why Mateo Cassierra’s goal was disallowed, have you change your mind after seeing Douglas Santos was offside? Should the referee announce this? Because the fans didn’t understand the decision.

No, initially, as I understand it, the Spartak players were appealed due to a push from Cassierra, so my reaction was to that, as the push from Cassierra was insignificant and could not be the reason.

It’s difficult to understand that offside, as seeing it was difficult, there was no camera from the touchline that would show whether it was offside or not. There is a system used and it does its best, but based on the pictures provided and the lines shown, it could only be this decision. How these lines are drawn and how the markers are set... Probably, those people running things understand it, but the system is the same for everyone so I don't have any questions about it.
