The study assessed clubs on the following criteria: Their average attendance, arena occupancy rates, overall revenue, profit and loss, media presence, social media reach, results within their sports and an overall expert’s assessment of the effectiveness of club’s management.
Zenit were rated in first place across all clubs from the big three professional sports leagues, and named the most effective professional club within Russia.
Football club’s Krasnodar and Spartak Moscow were in second and third place respectively, with St. Petersburg’s ice hockey team SKA is in fourth, and football’s CSKA Moscow in fifth.
