The stats of the season: Part one

We've put together a selection of this season's stats for all the data aficionados out there.
The stats of the season: Part one

1. Zenit won the title for the sixth time in a row, this equals the previous record set between 1996 and 2001 by Spartak Moscow.

2. The blue-white-sky blues won 17 games in the 30 match RPL season, the most of any club in 2023/24 and ahead of Krasnodar and Dynamo who had 6 wins each.

3. We had the best goal difference in the league with +25. CSKA and Krasnodar and next with +16. 

4. The average length of time of a Zenit scoring attacks is 40.2 seconds, by far the longest build-up to a goal in the RPL. Next are Dynamo with 24.8 seconds, followed by Spartak on 24.4.

5. Sergei Semak’s men made an average of 13 passes for every scoring attack. Next were Spartak with an average of 8 passes and Dynamo, CSKA, Sochi and Baltika are in joint third with 7 each.  

6. Zenit were top of the league when it comes to possession with 63.3%, the others in the top 3 were Krasnodar on 56.2% and Spartak with 56%. 

7. We also came top of the passing accuracy stats in the RPL with 85.4%. We are followed by Krasnodar with 80.6% and Spartak on 80%. 

8. When it comes to shots taken Sergei Semak’s team took 410 shots, the fourth most in the RPL and behind Dynamo (464), Spartak (432) and Rostov (428).

9. Zenit are the clear leader when it comes to one-on-ones with the opposing goalkeeper with 11. Akhmat are next with 7 and Spartak and Dynamo are next with 6.

10. The blue-white-sky blues are top of the league with touches in the opponent’s penalty area on 836. Next were Rostov (815) and Lokomotiv (805).
