Bruno Alves: “We were trying to win”

Right after Zenit’s charter from Grozny landed in Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Bruno Alves, Zenit’s Portuguese fullback, shared his impressions from going to the capital of Chechnya.

– Everything’s fine, – Alves smiles. – We had good conditions to get ready for the match in Grozny. We had a good hotel. As for the match itself, it was really hard. Terek fights really hard, they never give up. I would say that we controlled the match and had several pretty good chances to score.

– You’re getting new partners at the back line now. Have you found a common language with all of them?
– We have to find the right communication and set goals that we’re going to fulfill during matches, and at practices. All of my partners on the back line are excellent footballers. They all help me on the pitch.

– Are you satisfied with the result of the match with Terek?
– It’s always important to Zenit to win. We went there to win, and tried to win.
