In the semi-final Zenit beat Spartak Moscow 3-2 and in the final won the game against Rostov, meaning Zenit finished in 5th place overall.

Earlier in the play-offs of the golden league Zenit-2011 lost the match against Kazachok Lermontov 2-0. Kazachok won Alania Cup by beating FFS Moscow in the final.

Dmitriy Alekseev, the coach of Zenit U11s said: “We had good moments in the game against Spartak and we scored two goals, but in the end we let ourselves relax a little bit which led to their goal. But a minute before the end we scored the winner and won 3-2.”

“We won the second match more confidently, we played well in attack and our defence was very reliable. It’s worth mentioning that the weather conditions weren’t easy and it was very hot. The matches were one after another with a one hour break between games.”

In the first match of Alania Cup a Zenit player had a one-on-one chance against the goalkeeper and decided to try a rabona, but missed, how do you feel about that?

“A lot of people were interested about this and have asked questions. I’m going to say that again, it was the player’s decision. If a player is not afraid to take some responsibility in a difficult situation with the score at 1-0, and does something unexpected and out of the ordinary, I have no problem with that.”
